Directors Biography
Cliffie Swartz
Director, Cliffie Swartz’s broad- based career encompasses Industry, Government and NGOs at all levels. He has a thorough understanding
of community development, education and training having occupied management positions at various levels. Cliffie has been involved in
tennis as player, administrator, and coach over many years and with the assistance of parents from the Northern Areas of Port Elizabeth
established the first non-racial tennis academy in South Africa during the 80’s.
He was also part of the first group of tennis coaches that qualified through the TASA/Dunlop non-racial Coaches Development Programme and trained coaches in townships and some of the most rural areas across South Africa. Cliffie obtained the qualifications of Post-Grad Diploma: Sport Development and Peace, ITF Level 2, Swedish Train-the-Trainer, and several other tennis specific and generic qualifications. He also is qualified as facilitator, assessor, moderator, mentor/coach and SDF (Skills Development Facilitator) within the SAQA (South African Qualifications Authority) Education and Training Framework and has trained hundreds of sport administrators and coaches which include setting up and capacitating club structures.
He managed the SA/ITF School Tennis Initiative programme for primary schools in South Africa during the late 1990’s.
